Maureen Murphy is art historian, lecturer in the history of contemporary art at the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and member of the Institut Universitaire de France. Her research focuses on the globalization of the international art scene from the perspective of Africa-Europe relations, as well as primitivism, exhibition politics and biennials. She is the author of “De l’imaginaire au musée. Les arts d’Afrique à Paris et à New York” (Les Presses du réel, 2009) and is preparing a book in collaboration with Professor Mamadou Diouf on art in Dakar since the 1960s (Presses du réel 2020).
