The Halle de l’Etoile took over in 2004 from the French Cultural Center of Lubumbashi, inaugurated in 1967 and which had to close its doors after the looting of 1991. The Halle de l’Etoile belongs to the network of French cultural institutes under the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Africa and in the world.
The Halle de l’Etoile is an instrument of cooperation and culture that works for the cultural diversity, obeying a triple vocation: the enhancement of the artistic and cultural expressions in Lubumbashi, Katanga, the enhancement of French and European culture, and more generally the promotion of North-South and South-South cultural dialogue.
